Action: the antidote to despair!

Humankind was called to be the steward of God's Creation from the very beginning(Gen 1:28). Stewardship is not about abusing and using up, but responsibly tending and protecting what we have been given to look after. All of God's creation is important to him. Our human story in the Bible starts in a garden and ends in a restored garden.
The Lord is specifically asking our little church body in Oregon to rise up and partner with Him in this charge of stewarding his creation. This is a pivotal time in history and the Lord is inviting us to partner with him in action and attitude. He is asking us to begin to pray and seek His desire for us.
We have told the Lord over and over that He can have his way, and we will obey His call, no matter what it is. We are a 'Yes, Lord' people. When the Lord asked the Israelites to march around Jericho in silence for 7 days as a military strategy, they said 'Yes, Lord'. I am certain this strategy seemed alarming and non-sensical at first, but victory followed obedience. Perhaps recycling and using re-usable shopping bags does not seem as if it makes much difference and is an alarming focus in the church. But we are a 'Yes, Lord' people, and this is the strategy (obedience) laid out for us in the Bible for victory and advancing the Kingdom.
Our broad strategy right now is to assist our members in 'greening up' their lives, to slowly and surely improve our facility, and to partner with our community to create a model of sustainable living in our little town.
